Andrew Houseley, Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Central Suffolk & North Ipswich, has called on the government to face up to the NHS crisis and cancel Trust deficits, readjusting the unfair funding formula.
Mr Houseley challenged the extent to which the government wanted NHS Trusts to apply the 'Hospital at Home' model of care, which threatened to wipe out local step-up and step-down (rehabilitation) beds, as well as aspects of intermediate care.
He was speaking to delegates at the party's Eastern Region conference at Huntingdon on Saturday, in support of an amendment proposed by Felixstowe councillor Mike Ninnmey, a leading campaigner against the closure of the Bartlet Hospital and PCT reorganisation in Suffolk.
